Batch OCR
Extract text from multiple images at once with private in-browser OCR. Process scans and screenshots locally, then download combined text.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedOCR multiple images in one browser tab
Batch OCR saves time when you have several screenshots, scanned pages, receipts or photos that all need editable text. Instead of uploading files to a server or running one image at a time manually, you can select a group and let this tool process them sequentially in your browser. Each result appears on the page as soon as that image finishes, and the combined download keeps filename headers so the extracted text is easy to trace back to the original file.
The workflow is private by design. Tesseract.js runs optical character recognition locally with WebAssembly, so the images stay on your device. There is no backend queue, no account and no upload step. Sequential processing also makes the status easier to understand: the progress bar shows the current file and its recognition percentage while completed files remain visible below. This is a practical way to handle small everyday batches without installing desktop OCR software.
Preparing files for a cleaner batch
For best results, group images that use the same language and have similar quality. Clear screenshots and straight scans usually produce better text than blurry photos. If the images are phone pictures, crop away the background, avoid shadows and keep the page square to the camera. OCR can struggle with handwriting, tables, decorative fonts and very small text, so review each result before relying on it for important records.
The first file may take longer because the browser downloads the OCR engine and selected language model. After that, the same run and future visits are usually faster because the model is cached. Large images consume more memory and take more time, so resize extremely high resolution photos if speed matters more than detail. Keep the tab open while the batch runs and avoid closing the browser until the combined text file has downloaded.
Using the combined OCR text
When the batch finishes, download the combined .txt file for notes, archives, search indexes or manual review. Each section starts with the original filename, followed by the recognized text for that image. This format is simple to paste into documents, split later or compare with the source images. If one file produces poor output, retake or rescan only that image and run it again with the single image-to-text tool. For scanned PDFs, use the PDF OCR tool so page order and page separators are handled automatically.
